Alcoholic Liver Disease |
|
Alcoholic liver disease occurs due to an acute or chronic inflammation of the liver due to alcohol abuse. This disease usually occurs after a prolonged use of alcohol. In the United States 10% of men and 3% of women suffer from problems related to alcoholic consumption. The occurrence of the disease depends on the amount of alcohol consumed and the duration it is consumed in. The greater the duration and greater the amount leads to a greater chance for liver disease to occur. Other factors include the toxicity of ethanol to the liver, susceptibility to the disease, and genetic factors. Studies have shown that women may be more susceptible than men. The disease starts as inflammation... |

Natural Solutions for Hepatitis B & C |

Hepatitis B and C are becoming increasingly common infectious diseases in the United States. These diseases are spread through the blood and body fluids. People at greatest risk of contracting these diseases are those involved in the medical field, intravenous drug users, those who received blood transfusions before there was screening for these diseases, and people involved in unprotected sex. The jury is still out, but getting tattoos may also be a risk factor. The drug of choice for the treatment of these strains of chronic hepatitis is interferon. Interferon has many side effects, and it can be quite an ordeal to go through six to eighteen months of treatment with this drug. For... |

Liver Disease

Kevin Stith
The liver processes nutrients from the digestive system. It also removes toxins from the body, and produces a greenish-brown fluid known as bile that is required for digestion. There are a wide number of diseases that affect the liver. They range from chronic illnesses such as hepatitis and cirrhosis to acute conditions such as cancer or bile duct obstruction. Millions of Americans have both chronic and acute liver disease. Liver cancer, portal hypertension and bile duct obstruction are three of the most common liver diseases. The liver is the largest organ in the body and proper function is essential for life. You cannot live without your liver, as it converts food into stored energy and produces chemicals that are vital to life. The liver processes carbohydrates, proteins, fats and minerals that are used to maintain normal body functions. Carbohydrates are stored to maintain energy throughout the day. Proteins are released to the muscles as energy or are stored for later use. Some are converted and excreted through urine. Some proteins are transformed into ammonia that is broken down by the liver and excreted through the kidneys. Bile is produced in the liver and that helps break down fat that is stored in the gallbladder and released into the small intestine. Bile absorbs essential vitamins and after digestion and are returned to the liver and recycled. There are many types of liver disease and most causes are not known. However, poor nutrition has been attributed to a leading cause of liver disease. It is well known that good nutrition can in fact help the damaged liver to regenerate new liver cells. Liver Disease provides detailed information on Liver Disease, Liver Disease Symptoms, Fatty Liver Disease, Alcoholic Liver Disease and more. Liver Disease is affiliated with Kidney Stones In Women.

It is a life-threatening disease which has taken many lives and left them with high and dry with heft hospital bills. The damage is caused by the toxins, metabolic problems, chronic viral hepatitis or any other causes. Some of the causes for having this disease is the excess consumption of alcohol or we can say abuse of alcohol, through chronic viral hepatitis (hepatitis B, C or D), autoimmune hepatitis which destructs the liver cells, drugs or toxins and infections, blockage of bile ducts which damages the liver tissue, through inheritance of diseases like hemochromatosis , Wilson's disease, protoporphyria, so one should get proper check up done to diagnose as there has been cases where without the thorough check up it wont be detected. Some of the changes in your routine can make a lot of a difference to avoid such a deadly disease. Eat healthy, stay healthy, have a good health regime to ward off all the possibilities of such diseases. Avoid alcohol completely which mainly is the reason for being affected by such disease. Stay away from drugs and get a complete check up done on you to... |
